Shaun Paul
Shaun is a Certified Public Accountant in Australia and the United States, and studied econometrics and finance at UNSW, where he learned to read data and let it tell the truth. Before TAO he ran businesses in Sydney: he is the managing director of Chandeliers To Die For, an events hire company, and co-founded CreatorFox, a digital marketing agency whose team has produced brand activations for Dior, Netflix, David Jones and Meshki. TAO began in 2023 as a system he built for his own company in Python and LangChain. He still runs it the way an owner would.
Jeffrey Ren
Jeffrey builds TAO. He is a full-stack engineer working in React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node and PostgreSQL, with the deployment, security and testing discipline to match. He studied information technology at UTS, where he made the Dean’s List with a high distinction average, and before that he spent five years as director of his own company, so he builds software the way someone who has had to use it every day would want it built.
I started my first business the way most people do, with something I loved and a belief that if I did it well enough, the rest would take care of itself. The rest did not. It arrived every morning as email, quotes, invoices and chasing, and it arrived before a single dollar did. I loved the work. I did not love that the work between the work was slowly taking its place.
As an accountant I could see exactly where the hours and the margin were going, and every system I bought to fix it added one more place to type the same thing. So in 2023 I built something for my own company, in Python and LangChain, mostly to give my team their days back. A week of admin became a day. People stopped asking me where things were, because the system already knew. That feeling, of a business that finally looks after its own, is the whole reason TAO exists.
